NGLA would like to thank all who attended our 2015 NGLA conference in Hartford, CT. We had record breaking attendance this year and hope you all provide feedback in the assessment you will receive via email.
Thanks to the efforts of so many individuals, we were able to raise more than $3,500 in the 2nd Annual Silent Auction, bringing in $500 more than last year in donations. Thank you to all of the individuals who donated and bid on items in the auction!
The Hartford Public Library sends their gratitude for our wonderful donations! This year we were able to donate just under 200 books to the library. Thank you to all for your efforts and support of the book drive, and a special thank you to the William Patterson University community for having the most donations this year.
Relive the experience by checking out some conference photos, watching the final banquet video, or learning how to take your conference experience to the next level by visiting the NGLA Blog!

| The mission of NGLA is to build community among students from a variety of fraternal experiences, challenge members to align their actions with fraternal values, and empower advocates to transform and improve their communities. Each member of the Board plays an integral role in furthering this mission. Our continued success depends on the personal commitment and dedication of a select group of individuals, who understand the privileges and obligations of leadership. The Association is currently accepting applications for board vacancies. Applicants must complete the online application form and submit a current resume to the executive board by April 1, 2015.

| Looking back at my NGLA experience as a 2015 Conference Staff Student Volunteer, there is one word that comes to mind: family. Everyone that was involved in the conference, whether it was an attendee, volunteer, or even presenter, all contributed to the “family-feel” aura. My experience as a student staff member has allowed and pushed me to do things that I never thought I could achieve. I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to interact with over one thousand outstanding fraternity and sorority men and women, network with professionals and leaders in their field, and take away experiences that will last me a lifetime. To say that I am hooked on the “NGLA Kool-Aid” is an understatement! |
| | | | Over the course of the next few months we will be highlighting our 2015 Award Winners! This month we are proud to highlight the winner of the inaugural Josette Kaufmann Award: The New Jersey Alpha Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon at Stevens Institute of Technology.
The New Jersey Alpha Chapter is being recognized for an event that connected directly to their fraternal values and principles. The members recognized that there were currently no continuums that focused on creating a sound body. With that in mind the brothers of the chapter set out to plan an event that would include other chapters and focus on informational exercise, nutrition, dieting and teamwork. This resulted in the creation of LIFT, leadership, individual, fitness and teamwork. This full day event has been held twice and is planned once again for Spring 2015. Contributions from the community, restaurants, and use of campus facilities allowed this to occur despite limited chapter funds. It kept the group aware of the importance of maintaining a Sound Body and filled a void in the continuums. One brother lost 40 pounds by following LIFT ideas for exercise and dieting with a focus of weight loss.
More information about The New Jersey Alpha Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon’s LIFT program can be found on the chapter’s website.

| | | There are some unsung heroes from last month's Annual Conference that we would like to recognize as this month's Volunteers of the Month. For months leading up to the big event, the Conference Awards Committee logged hours upon hours of work as they reviewed our annual awards categories, promoted the awards online and via social media, reviewed and judged all applications, named all recipients and created script for the Awards Banquet. To say they were rock stars would not be saying enough. NGLA would like to extend a huge THANKS to the following special individuals, without whom the Awards Banquet may never have happened: |
| | Please join us in congratulating these tremendous volunteers. Their service to NGLA is greatly appreciated.
Do you know any current NGLA volunteer who deserves the recognition of being our next Volunteer of the Month? Submit your nominations now to Kevin Pons, Volunteer Coordinator.

| | | Each month the NGLA newsletter aims to provide knowledge and resources relevant to our fraternal community, as well as celebrate the achievements of undergraduate fraternity and sorority communities in the region. Content may be submitted at any time for the general newsletter or brag board. To learn more about guidelines for submission, visit our website or email Brittany Scancarella, Newsletter Editor. |
