Earlier this year, Phi Kappa Theta at Worcester Polytechnic Institute welcomed a new fraternity brother, Diesel. The brothers are training Diesel to become a guide dog for the Guide Dog Foundation. The Foundation provides people who are blind or visually impaired with highly trained guide dogs free of charge, and operates almost entirely from donations and volunteer work.
Jake Scheide ’19 is a computer science major and serves as one of Diesel’s primary handlers. All of the brothers share the responsibility of raising and training Diesel.
This initiative demonstrates Phi Kappa Theta at WPI’s dedication to their fraternity’s motto, "Give, expecting nothing thereof."

NGLA offers an Innovation Grant for fraternity and sorority communities to come together to creatively and collaboratively solve problems and challenges. The purpose of the Innovation Grant is to provide campuses or organizations with the resources to employ creative, new approaches to problems or issues faced within your community and whose solution may also benefit other fraternal communities in the Northeast. The committee is looking for proposals that make an impact on those students who participate.
The grant eligibility criteria and application form are available on the NGLA Innovation Grant webpage. NGLA looks forward to supporting your innovative ideas that strengthen your community and further NGLA’s mission to “educate leaders from a variety of fraternal experiences to transform and empower their community and align actions with values.”

Ryan Cole and the Keynote Selection Team identified, reviewed, and selected the keynote addresses for the 2019 NGLA Annual Conference. The team worked tirelessly during one of our busiest times of the year to identify and set the tone for the conference programming. In particular, with Ryan’s organization and leadership, the keynote review process was seamless and we are excited for the forthcoming keynote announcements.
Members of the Keynote Selection Team include: Ryan Cole, Joanna Darrigo, Talia Gurstel, Donald Moore, Brittany Quinlan, Christina Witkowicki, Kathryn Wojcik.
