Paying It Forward
It is so wonderful to hear from parents who have gone through the college admissions process along with our Facebook group, Paying For College 101.

And it is especially gratifying when these same parents want to come back and share what they’ve learned with those in the group who have not yet completed their journey.

In Parental Advice on College Admissions and Financing College one such parent imparts her wisdom and pays it forward.
Now, Isn't That Special?
Life has a “funny” way of kicking you when you’re down. You’ve already filled out FAFSA and possibly the CSS Profile, but certain things have affected your current financial situation that you were not able to address on the forms. Now what??

Filling Out a Special Circumstances Form to Appeal Financial Aid outlines all the reasons one might need to file what is in essence an addendum and how to go about doing it. Things like the death of a parental wage earner or unexpected medical expenses, for example, can all be addressed here.
What We're Reading on The Road…
In addition to helping others with things they’ve already learned in the group, many members also recommend books they’ve found to be helpful on related topics.

This one, by author Paul Tough (and no, we are not going to make a joke about his last name and the college years), was recommended by more than one person. The title is The Years That Matter Most: How College Makes or Breaks Us, and one reviewer described it as being “a crucial contribution to the college conversation.”
As always, respond to this email if you have any questions.
