Give Me Your Name, Rank, and Serial Number...
Or Maybe Just Your GPA.

Ah, high school -- when even English majors are concerned with numbers just as much as math majors.

Those numbers, of course, are GPA and class rank, and while they may be based on the same factors, the reality is that they measure two very different things.

Your child’s GPA provides a picture of how they have done across their entire high school career, while class rank puts it into perspective alongside their peers. Class rank can help inform colleges just how difficult the overall curriculum is at your child’s school, albeit imperfectly.

Volunteering in High School Has Fringe Benefits

Competition is one avenue for success in college and beyond.

Good citizenship demonstrated through community service is another.

If your student is on the fence about jumping into the volunteer pool, consider this: Helping others comes with surprise benefits for the helper! Things like self-confidence, friendship building, and motivation are just a few of the positive byproducts of volunteering.

Our advice for anyone on the fence; Jump in!

What's Up Ahead on The Road...
Rising Seniors!!

Did you know that Harvard admissions data has shown that investing time into college essays is the single most important thing that rising seniors can do to improve their admissions chances?

Join us and Brad Schiller, CEO of Prompt, when we Zoom on Wednesday, July 14th, at 8:30pm ET

Here are a few insights Brad will share with us from Prompt's analysis of Harvard admissions data:
  • Selective colleges rank applicants based on academics and the personal score.
  • Strong academics (and test scores) only increase your admissions chances up to 3x.
  • Strong essays and a high personal score can increase your admissions chances up to 10x.
