How Much Does College REALLY Cost?

I'm excited to be talking with Ron Lieber, the New York Times "Your Money" columnist, about his new book "The Price You Pay for College."

Ron has been a long time member of our Paying For College 101 Facebook group, which he cites as a resource for his book: "The single place where I've learned the most during my reporting is in the Paying For College 101 Facebook group...I found it indispensable in my first  years of doing research for this book."

Join Ron and me: January 31 (TONIGHT), at 8:30pm ET

I know you won't want to miss this discussion.

(You can order Ron's book here.)

Why Is It So Hard To Predict Merit Scholarships?

When it comes to paying for college, so many families fall in "no man's land" - they won't qualify for financial aid but they can't afford to pay the full price of college.

For these families, their best strategy is to find colleges that can offer their student merit scholarships, aka a "discount" on the sticker price of college. Some colleges are more transparent about how they offer merit scholarships, while many others make their process as opaque as possible.

To find out more about what's behind merit scholarship formulas, read here (an excerpt from The Price You Pay For College).
My goal is to provide affordable services, insightful information and a support system so your family can make more informed decisions about college.
