What we covered during the main session last month (October): - We talked about last minute tips for the PSAT. What it means and how to use it to think about test preparation and planning.
- We talked about admissions myths and tips.
- We talked about common mistakes students and families make as they go through the college application process.
- We talked about the importance of planning college visits, and how to schedule them for this winter and early spring.
What we will cover in the main session this month:
- Conducting formal college visits, college fairs and the difference between a Vertical and Horizontal visit.
- Building a resume for college admissions.
- Things Juniors need to consider as their critical time is coming so you are ready and no overwhelmed.
Action items to be aware of in November:
- Take a practice ACT so you have the results available to compare to the PSAT results expected in December. This will help you understand which test is best for you going forward.
- Conduct formal visits, document your interests, people you met, questions for the future and the Admissions contact for your high school so you can communicate directly in the future.
- Research test preparation options locally and online so you are ready to act once you commit to your testing plan.
Reminder for how to get the most out of the concierge service: - The 1st Wednesday of every month will be the monthly coaching session. Office hours vary so check the google sheet.
- During office hours, we’ll answer any general questions that we’ve received via emails or posted in the FB groups.
- Use the Facebook group to share information with one another, and ask questions on your mind (we’ll look here before office hours).
- We send reminder emails the day of monthly sessions and office hours. Please add "debbie@road2college.com" to your email address book if you aren't receiving our emails.
- We've created a google sheet with the calendar of all the sessions and topics. In addition, there is a tab in the google sheet labeled "Videos" that has links to all the recorded sessions.
