IF YOU NEED HELP FROM COLLEGE SEARCH TO LOANS......
If you need me, call me…

Very often, members of our Paying For College 101 Facebook group have asked for names of professionals to help them with various problems related to the college admissions process. We had been hesitant about making any recommendations without being fully confident about who we were recommending…until now.

We are excited to introduce our Road2College Pros Network!

This is a directory where you will find the names of professionals who specialize in all aspects of the college admissions process. The pros in this group have all been carefully vetted, and we are now comfortable with passing their information on to you. Many can assist clients virtually as well as locally if you are in their particular area. We'll also be "calling" on these professional more often in the future to help answer questions and share their insights.

We hope you will reach out to our Pros Network when you find you are in need of more help than you have the time or the expertise for.
(If you are a professional that works with families in any aspect of college planning and financing and you're interested in being part of our Pros Network, feel free to email me at info@road2college.com).

Need Help Finding Merit Scholarships?

Are you in a similar situation to this parent from our Paying For College 101 group:

"I am hoping I have missed some obvious place where I can do this....I am currently helping my DS make a spreadsheet that lets us compare schools on these basic variables--avg gpa, avg ACT, admissions rate, net price. I cannot do this on naviance, college navigator, niche, collegehunch or big future. Help! We have spent so much time manually entering information and are barely half way done. Is there some service that will let me do this painlessly? TIA"

If you're looking for a solution to help you organize all the data you need to do a thorough college search, then consider our College Data Spreadsheet(click to see a sample).  It combines data from IPEDS (government data) and Common Data Set information in ONE place to sort, filter, and compare colleges the way you should to find affordable colleges and those that are generous with merit or need based aid.

Here's what one member said about the spreasheet...

"This is really worth it. The amount of time saved makes it so worth the money. I can't even tell you how many times I've gone back to the master spreadsheet and now I've made scaled-down ones with just the colleges that are still in the running with just the data we find most important for both my daughters."

Good For the Goose

It IS true that what one college freshman may consider to be “essential,” another one may consider to be dispensable, however, we have it on good authority that the items on our list of dorm essentials will be given a thumb’s up by all of the newbies you encounter on move-in day and beyond.

Surprisingly, it’s not a big list, because we are huge proponents of the philosophy that the less you spend now on unnecessary “stuff,” the more $$ you have to spend on a nice gift to reward yourself for not sobbing as you leave your little gosling behind.

COLLEGE ADMISSIONS GRADE BY GRADE: WHAT TO DO NOW.....
Rising Seniors....It's time to understand Demonstrated Interest - what it is and the best ways to show it to colleges. We recently did a Facebook Live with Anna Ren, an independent college counselor, who shared the 6 ways she tells her students how to show demonstrated interested to the colleges on their list.

Rising Juniors...
If you haven't yet, please have a conversation with your child about college costs and what you can afford. A recent study found 62% of high school seniors "agree that they haven't done enough research about how to pay for college" - Yikes!
