Why College Is a Little Like a Play-Doh Factory

Back in the day, when toys had nothing to do with technology, little children would keep themselves busy by putting a lump of Play-Doh into a hole and pressing down on a lever that would push the clay out the other end.

Depending upon what template was put outside the hole, the lump would emerge as a totally new shape.

College is a lot like that toy: Somewhat amorphous teens are put through and, depending upon what template they are given, a different shape comes out after four years.

Pushing them through is a lot harder than pushing Play-Doh, so parents often like to know that what will come out the other end will be a good return on their investment (ROI) and all that pushing.

Which schools will provide students with the opportunity to flourish, grow, and find good jobs? And how does one assess that in advance?

How the PSAT Could = MONEY

The PSAT is a multiple-choice test offered by the College Board that is taken by millions of high school students nationwide.

While it is true that one could look at this test as "practice" for the SAT, families should also consider that there are many benefits to taking the PSAT at least once during high school.

If your student scores well enough, they could be in line for honors and big money.
