Mayday, Mayday!
No, this is not a shriek of panic, it’s a celebratory call.

May Day, May 1, National Decision Day are all one and the same when it comes to a high school senior and their parents.

And that day, when seniors declare their undying love for the school of their choice, is cause for celebration.

Check out “National Decision Day: Presenting the Class of 2019” where we’ve uploaded a video of some of the grads-to-be from our Paying For College 101 Facebook group. (and grab some tissues, while you’re at it—you’ll need them.)
Need vs Want…
Amidst all the excitement of Decision Day, we mustn’t forget those
students who have NOT yet taken their turn off the diving board from high school into the pool of college. 9th, 10th, and 11th graders have lots of work ahead of them.

Learning that most schools will look at your family’s ability to pay before making an admissions decision and how they determine that is just one of the myriad things that should be on your checklist.

Need-Award vs. Need-Blind Colleges? What’s the Difference” will clue you in, so you’ll be able to discern fact from fiction.

Hey, Guys…Where’d You Get That Loan?
We see this question a lot in our FB group. And, we hate to burst your
bubble, but there is no one answer to that question. To paraphrase a 17-century poet, “Gather ye numbers, while ye May.” 🍎🍎

You’ll need to make an apples to apples comparison once you have those numbers so that you can look at the total cost of each loan to make an informed deci-sion.

To simplify the comparison part of the work, we created this spread-sheet to just plug in the numbers and it does the math for you.

Download it and compare multiple loans at once, including the Parent Plus Loan.

Lenders You Might Want To Check Out...

If you'll need some help bridging the gap to pay for college (after making sure your student borrows federal student loans first), check out these lenders and compare your options.
Have a Cup ‘o Brew in the Morning and Start Your Day Right
Do you “brew?” We’re not talking about coffee, we’re referring to “Morning Brew,” a free daily email that delivers a little “shot” about what the “buzz” is from Wall St. to Silicon Valley.

The news is delivered in a smart and clever way—very easy to “gulp down.” (You see what we’re doing here, right?)
