Dear Parents of High School Seniors - I'd like to introduce you to the College Admissions & Funding CoLAB, a new approach to college planning.

The CoLAB was developed by Michele Larson and Joanna LaSpina, two independent college counselors who wanted to create a program that would be more affordable for families, as compared to working one on one with a private college consultant, yet would still provide the individualized and personalized information families need.

It’s honestly, something I wish was available when my oldest was going through this process. (I still have one more left and will definitely be doing this when it’s his time).

The first CoLAB began for seniors in June and we're now opening up another CoLAB for more seniors.

We know some families are just starting to put the "pedal to the metal" in getting their college admissions process started for their students. But that's ok. There's still time to get everything done, but you and your student need to get serious now. If you're in this situation and need help, this CoLAB is for you!

To give you a taste for what it's all about, I'd like to invite you to take advantage of this offer:

  • Schedule a free 30 minute consultation with Michele Larson, the lead college counselor for our CoLAB. Use this time to talk with Michele about anything related to your student and college admissions and funding in general.

  • Watch our Facebook Live on Sunday, 9/9 at 8:30pm EST. It will be broadcast on the Road2College Facebook page and in the Paying For College 101 Facebook group. You'll get the chance to hear directly from Michele and Joanne and ask them questions.

The CoLAB will begin Tuesday (9/18) and is limited to 10 families.

Working one on one with most college counselors costs on average $4200, but we worked to keep the cost of the CoLAB to less than $1000 (it’s $997),

The CoLAB lasts from September to June, covering all aspects of making sure your student finds a school thats right for him/her and one that’s as affordable as possible.

If you’re interested in talking more about whether the CoLAB is right for you and your student, set up a quick appointment with Michele by clicking the button below.

All the best,

DON'T OVERSPEND FOR COLLEGE - JOIN OUR CoLAB
If you're a parent of a rising senior, you may be worried you don't know everything you need to know to handle your child's college admissions and funding process on your own.

That's the way I felt when I went through the process with my oldest child.

I panicked and signed up with a pricey private college counselor, without doing enough reserach to really understand what she would do for us and if she was capable of it.

I learned my lesson, which was there are too many pieces to the college admissions and funding process and no ONE person has the skills to handle it all.

To solve this problem, I reached out to private college counselors I've gotten to know through the Paying For College 101 Facebook group and worked with them to create a new type of college counseling approach.

The College Admissions & Funding CoLAB is a 10 month program, lead by experienced private counselors, assisted with topic specific experts.

It's the best of both worlds - seasoned college counselors guiding you and your student for a year (because that's how long the full process takes), along with experts to help in specific areas like test prep, financial aid and scholarships.

FINDING WAYS TO SAVE $50,000
How will the CoLAB help you find ways to save $50,000 and prevent you from overspending?

The CoLAB combines college admissions and college funding!

To get the best results financially, academically, and socially, I've never understood why these two process were handled separately (or sometimes the funding piece is never addressed at all).

The most critial steps for finding ways to save on college tuition, making sure schools are affordable and deciding whether the investment is worth it, involves understanding ALL of the following:
  • how the financial aid system works
  • what your expected family contribution is (EFC)
  • what your net cost will be at individual colleges
  • how your student's academic profile compares to the top 25% at a school
  • which schools can be most generous based on your student's profile and your family's financial situation
  • and your student's aptitudes, career interests and potential earnings

This should and can be done BEFORE you and your student finalize their college list of schools he/she will apply to.

The goal of the CoLAB is to provide families with a hybrid, cost effective approach to college planning.

The hyrbird approach is a combination of group coaching sessions combined with individualized reports, and unlimited access to Joanne and Michele (the CoLAB leaders) to answer personal questions, when needed.

I know deciding to participate in this type of program is a big step and an expense (though it's a quarter of the cost compared to the average fee of $4100 that private college counselors charge to work one on one with families).

Feel free to reach out to me (debbie@road2college.com) or Michele Larson (Michele@K4College.com) with any questions or schedule a time to talk.

We are limiting the CoLAB to 10 families.

In order to cover all the topics we need to, the first CoLAB session begins Tuesday, September 18th!

Don't hesitate to talk to us about alternative, flexible payment plans. Our goal is to find a way for families to participate and benefit from the CoLAB.
