Know How To Appeal The Right Way...
Last chance to sign up for our workshop on How To Get The Most From Your Financial Aid Appeal.

The workshop is tonight (3/21) at 8:30pm EST.

Last Thursday I did a Facebook Live with Jay London on mistakes to avoid when appealing financial aid.

Here are just a few things I learned from Jay:

1. The first offer a school gives is never their best offer.

2. ALWAYS send your financial aid appeal through the mail, certified.

3. Current college students can also appeal, especially if their financial situation has changed or their academic status has improved.

4. Financial aid officers have a lot of leeway to adjust an EFC, but they need thorough documentation from a family, before doing so.

5. If you can, always follow up your mailed request with an in-person visit to the admissions and/or financial aid office.

These were just a few of the things Jay shared. And it only scratches the surface of what he'll go over in his workshop.

Here are just some of the comments people had about Jay's Facebook Lives:
Jay is hosting a workshop to share all the information he uses when he works one-on-one with clients. In the workshop he'll show you how to:
  • research whether or not your student received the best offer.
  • improve the attractiveness of your student in the eyes of the college.
  • figure out if there are options for improving your student's offer besides just more aid (hint - what about making sure the merit scholarship increases at the same rate as tuition hikes??!!).
  • and more!!

AND THERE'S ALSO A BONUS JAY ADDED...

On last week's Facebook Live, Jay offered (which he hadn't told me about) that he will personally review and provide feedback on financial aid appeal letters for everyone who attends the workshop.

So in addition to learning his secrets, he's willing to personally review your financial aid appeal letter.

I don't have a high school senior this year (in two years I will), but if I did, I'd be signing up for Jay's workshop and bringing all my student's financial aid offers and all my questions to learn how to put the best appeal together as possible.

So if you want to appeal any of the financial aid offers your student received, enrolling in Jay's workshop will more than pay back in the additional money you'll have the chance of receiving by following his advice.
