Are Advanced Placement Classes APsolutely Necessary?

There was a time that AP classes did mean something in the realm of the college admissions process, but their ubiquity and the frequency with which schools offer them now have dimmed their star just a little.

Does the rigor of these classes and the affect they have on college acceptances make the toll they sometimes take on students worth it?

Is it Really Worth Taking AP Classes in High School? examines the pros and cons and lets us know whether we can expect to find “AP Basket Weaving” in the near future, and whether it will get your kid into the school or their choice.

You Can’t Win It If You’re Not In It!

As the decisions begin to roll in, the issue of how much money this entire college “thing” will cost is becoming a reality.

As much as your student might feel that this is the period to just “sit back and wait,” the time could be better spent by applying to private scholarships, because…you never know, you might just win some $$ to help fill in the gaps and pay for this “thing.”

January Scholarships is just that: A list of scholarships that have a January deadline. And you don’t need a crystal ball to know that February and March Scholarship lists will be coming down the pike, so tell your kids not to get too comfortable on that sofa, just yet.

TOOLS and WORKSHOPS
PRIVATE SCHOLARSHIP WORKSHOP
MONDAY, JANUARY 21 at 8:30PM EST

I'm excited to be talking with Pam Andrews, aka The Scholarship Shark.

I had been following Pam from a distance and then had the pleasure to meet in person this fall at a conference.

I'm always a fan of professionals who teach students (and parents) to be efficient and effective and that's what Pam does.

Join us to hear how Pam has helped her students win $1,000,000 in private scholarships.

ps - this talk is good for high school and college students looking for private scholarships.

MERIT SCHOLARSHIP WORKSHOP
SUNDAY, JANUARY 27TH AT 8PM EST

My goal has always been to provide tools and content to help families through the crazy process of college admissions and paying for it!!

The first tool I've focused on helps families find FREE MONEY from colleges based on a student's academic achievements, not their family's household income.

When my daughter was applying to colleges I knew there was no way our family would receive financial aid. But it took me months to pull together data from disparate sources and search college websites for details on scholarships colleges offer.

So out of my frustration I created the College Free Money Findera new tool to make searching for merit scholarships faster and easier.

By entering your student's academic profile, preferences for size and location, and other criteria such as special talents, sports, and specific majors, you get access to the largest database of over 15,000 merit scholarships, including full-ride and full-tuition scholarships.

In minutes the College Free Money Finder supplies a list of colleges and merit scholarships that took me months to put together. And it's specific to your student.
