Kicking 2020 to the Curb

We know we'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who could say that 2020 was a "fabulous" year, but we do hope there were some silver linings in amongst the folds of the rough, scratchy fabric of the last 12 months.

You readers have been our silver lining!

We love bringing you the Road2College news each week, and we appreciate your attention, your emails, and your support. There's no way we could have gotten through 2020 without all of you, so Thank You, from the bottom of our hearts.

Before we give you a rundown of all the new and exciting things you can expect from us in 2021, we have one bit of advice for the coming year that everyone can take, and everyone can follow through with...

It's something we heard in a commencement speech that was given by a US Navy Admiral named William McRaven. This has nothing to do with paying for college or even college at all, but it does have to do with life and getting each and every day off on a positive note.

Admiral McRaven said, "If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed." This small act can give you a sense of accomplishment, and perhaps lead you to completing another task, and then another.

And if it doesn't, then you will have at least completed one thing that day.
So, make your bed, and start the day/year off right.

Here is Admiral McRaven's speech...

What's Up Ahead on The Road...

We are calling 2021 the Year of the Parent!

Educating and offering guidance to parents about the financial aspect of the college admissions process has always been our focus, however, we are determined to do even more in 2021.

MORE Facebook Lives and webinars on appealing financial aid and merit scholarships. (Mark your calendars for February 1, when author Ron Leiber will join us to talk about his new book "The Price You Pay for College." Click on the link to pre-order the book and get a signed copy too! )

MORE help on how to find colleges with merit scholarships.

Providing MORE clarity about the Cares Act II and how that impacts higher ed.

A new Experts Series is in the works, where thought leaders from various fields will join us to discuss issues pertaining to college, paying for college, and even parenting.

Our Concierge Service has been so well received that we’re expanding it into a membership program that will be accessible to MORE families.

And last but certainly not least, we will be focusing MORE focus on community and working together to share data like that in Compare College Offers (see below).

So, that's how it's shaking for us in 2021...for now.

We wish you good health and much joy in the coming months.

Happy New Year!

Give a Little, Get A Lot

For the past two years we've worked together as a community to crowdsource and share our student's acceptances, need-based aid, and merit scholarship offers.

This year, more than ever, it's important to see how colleges are awarding financial aid and merit scholarships, and how test scores (or no test scores) are impacting these outcomes.

Early and rolling acceptances are arriving for the 2021-2022 school year, along with financial aid and merit scholarship offers.

Our updated free tool, COMPARE COLLEGE OFFERS (CCO) is live!
If your student has received offers from colleges, please use the tool to compare your offers and see what other students at the same colleges received.

Over the next few weeks and months, additional college offers will be added from this year's admissions season.

I'm excited to see us all work together, share our information and help clear up the mystery of the admissions and paying for college process.

My goal is to provide affordable services, insightful information and a support system so your family can make more informed decisions about college.
