What we covered during the main session last month (November): - SAT/ACT test preparation and planning.
- We talked about financial aid and how to get an idea of what to expect.
- We talked about common mistakes students and families make as they go through the college application process.
- We talked about the importance of planning college visits, and how to schedule them for this winter and early spring.
What we will cover in the main session this month:
- What do your PSAT results mean?
- Picking the right classes for the next school year.
- Summer programs...are they important, what kind should you consider, is it worth the money?
- Transitioning to Varsity Concierge Service in January for continued and much more specific support throughout the college application and admissions process (For current Juniors).
Action items to be aware of in December:
- Take a practice ACT so you have the results available to compare to the PSAT results. This will help you understand which test is best for you going forward.
- Conduct formal visits, document your interests, people you met, questions for the future and the Admissions contact for your high school so you can communicate directly in the future.
- Research test preparation options locally and online so you are ready to act once you commit to your testing plan.
- Preview class options for the upcoming school year (meet with Guidance)
- Find summer programs NOW so you aren’t late with applications
Reminder for how to get the most out of the concierge service: - The 1st Wednesday of every month will be the monthly coaching session. Office hours vary so check the google sheet.
- During office hours, we’ll answer any general questions that we’ve received via emails or posted in the FB groups.
- Use the Facebook group to share information with one another, and ask questions on your mind (we’ll look here before office hours).
- We send reminder emails the day of monthly sessions and office hours. Please add "debbie@road2college.com" to your email address book if you aren't receiving our emails.
- We've created a google sheet with the calendar of all the sessions and topics. In addition, there is a tab in the google sheet labeled "Videos" that has links to all the recorded sessions.
Tonight is our monthly coaching session and the next Office Hours are Wednesday, December 18th at 7pm EST.
