Will Colleges Be "Borrowing" From Peter to Pay Paul?
College spending has changed drastically due to the pandemic, and schools may well find themselves taking funds from one department, program, or sport, to pay for others. This might leave some majors in the dark or out of sight totally.

Because Scholarships Don't Take a Summer Vacation...
It may be harder to take a summer vacation this year than ever before, but if your student does have to stay close to home, they can always apply for scholarships while they're sunbathing in the backyard.

Not ideal, but they'll thank you in the dead of winter when the money starts rolling in. Here's a list of scholarships that all have June deadlines.
What’s Up Ahead On "The Road"...
For 12th Grade & College Students:
TIME TO UNDERSTAND LOANS

This is the time of year when you're deciding where your student will go to college. The finish line is in sight, but even so, there's a nagging question at the back of your mind..."How the h@$$ am I going to pay for it?"

SHOP AROUND!

Just like with any other big purchase in life, it's important to "window shop," gather information, and compare your options.

Start getting an idea of how much private interest rates are compared to the arent PLUS loan (which is now 5.3% but with an origination fee of 4.236%).

The best way to gather your information is to apply to several lenders and then compare.

There are also a few student loan marketplaces (Credible is popular with many families).

The marketplaces are good sites to check but understand that not ALL lenders participate in these marketplaces, so you may be missing out on potentially better rates if you don't apply directly to some lenders.

It's worth your time to get all the information you need to make a smart decision.

We'll continue to share more information on loans and how they work in the coming weeks.
