Is the Class of 2022 bearing the brunt of the pandemic's impact on college admissions?

The admissions process has been turned UPSIDE DOWN and is harder than ever before to navigate.

As a parent you might be wondering if your student:

– should still be taking standardized tests?

– will be offered merit scholarships?

– should consider a Gap Year?

– is focusing on the right essay topics?

– has found a good college fit?

– has selected a school that your family can afford?

Unfortunately, the answers to these questions aren't black and white, but are nuanced.

As a reader of our newsletter, website and member of our Paying For College 101 group, you know we are devoted to keeping families up to date and educated about all things admissions and paying for college.

In addition to all our free resources we also work more closely with families who want additional support and guidance.

Our Concierge Service provides live coaching sessions, office hours, personal email support, a private Facebook community, a monthly newsletter, and à la carte services (see below for more details).

We open enrollment to this program just a few times a year, but families with 11th graders can join now.

Get the Early Bird Bonus* if you join by March 21st.

This session runs from April to the end of September.

ICYMI:
Key Takeaways About Covid's Impact on College Admissions
If you missed our Facebook Live last weekend here's a quick recap:
  • Overall college enrollment declined this year with the greatest declines from low-income, minority, and rural high school students.
  • Test optional policies drove significant application increases at more selective schools. At some schools, students not submitting test scores were admitted at a lower rate (in early admission) than those with test scores.
  • Although fewer students applied to college, there was an increased number of applications sent overall, implying that students who applied, applied to more colleges than in past years. With more uncertainty than normal, students cast a wider net.
  • More students took Gap Years in 2020 and are enrolling back in 2021. It's unclear if colleges will increase the number of students accepted this year (or not) to accommodate Gap Year students.
  • Applications were also up at larger state universities and larger schools in general. Smaller schools tended to have a decrease in applicants.
