Common App, It's Not You, It's Me!

It's interesting that the Common App was created to make things "simpler" for students applying to college, and yet, so many families are stressed out by it. Realistically, the applications DOES facilitate things, and many of the mishaps are caused by the students and not the form.

To help alleviate any pressures inflicted by these glitches, here is a summary of the best tips we’ve found to get you through the process a little more smoothly…

College Advice? We've Got a Cornucopia of Advice
Did you see how we threw in that Thanksgiving reference? It IS coming, but we'll deal with that in another newsletter.

We do have a cornucopia of advice, however. It's all for the parents of college-bound students, and a lot of it is common sense.

But, in this time of so much craziness, the common sense gene can be pushed to the back of the closet by the "we want to frazzle your nerves" gene. No worries!

All of that good advice has been organized neatly right here, so when Thanksgiving finally does come around, you can be thankful for having followed it.

Colleges know everything about their admissions and financial aid formulas, but the families who are applying know very little about their student's chances of admission, and what their final college bill will be.

To level the playing field, we’ve created College Insights, a subscription-based tool covering over 2000 schools where families can look up detailed admissions information that ultimately provides clues into how colleges offer money, their admissions strategies, financial health, and more, as it pertains to YOUR student.

Join us for a midday tutorial to learn how to use our College Insights tool, and what it can do for you and your student.

Getting You to the Application Finish Line
Tuesday, November 10, 8:30pm ET

Time is definitely running out, but there's still time to get some help!

As COVID-19 continues to reshape the college application process, it's more important than ever to make sure:
1) your student’s college list includes affordable choices
2) their essays give admissions officers a sense of who they are in the absence of SAT and ACT scores, and
3) you’re not missing out on colleges that can give you money and be the perfect fit.

This FREE workshop is for parents and their high school senior students, but that doesn't mean high school juniors shouldn't join us. They can get a jump on things!

Feel free to send a question about college lists or essays in advance to: Debbie@road2college.com. We’ll be picking a few to answer (anonymously) during the Facebook Live.

My goal is to provide affordable services, insightful information and access to actionable data so your family can make more informed decisions about college.

Feel free to respond to this email with any questions you have.
