 Q & A

Community Question: I took out a Parent PLUS loan and I do not have to start paying it back until my child graduates. It does say that I can make payments whenever. If I start to make small payments while my child is in school, will that start the repayment process?

Answer: No. The loan will continue to be deferred as long as your student is enrolled at least part-time. You can make payments while they're in school to help keep the total debt down, but those payments will not enter the loan into repayment. Repayment only begins when a student is no longer enrolled.
