As Wisconsin school districts scramble to hire special education teachers, the Sheboygan Area School District and Lakeland University have signed a unique new partnership to address the challenge locally while benefitting LU education students.
Lakeland students who successfully complete the special education program, including student teaching, will be guaranteed a job in the Sheboygan Area School District after graduation.
“We are excited that SASD is willing to offer our graduates a guarantee of employment, as long as the student meets the terms of the agreement,” said Lakeland Professor of Education John Yang. “The agreement further corroborates the quality of students that our education program produces, and the strong partnership that Lakeland has with SASD.”...Read More 1> Promoting the Regional Brand 'Cheesy' new sculpture invites visitors to show their love for Green Bay WLUK GREEN BAY -- There's a "cheesy" new way for visitors to show their love for Green Bay.
A sculpture reading "I (heart) GB" was unveiled Monday on the north end of CityDeck. The "heart" element of the sculpture is depicted as being made out of cheese.

Small, community-based hospitals are planned in Oshkosh, Fond du Lac, and just outside Green Bay. In the village of Bellevue, crews are laying the groundwork for one of those micro-hospitals. Fostering Diversity-Equity-Inclusion-Belonging Appleton ranks highest for LGBTQ+ equality in Northeast Wisconsin WLUK APPLETON -- Appleton is leading the way in Northeast Wisconsin for LGBTQ+ inclusivity, according to the Human Rights Campaign, an advocacy group for gay rights. The Municipal Equality Index surveys laws and policies of cities across the nation. Appleton's score of 93 on the index is up 15 points in five years. The Human Rights Campaign's annual report rates cities based on how inclusive those policies are toward members of the LGBTQ+ community. "The city's focus overall is fostering the community where people feel like they belong," said Timber Smith, Appleton's diversity, equity and inclusion coordinator....
