12 local entrepreneurial pitch winners advance to Dec. 2 NEW Launch Alliance Regional Pitch Finale

NEW NORTH – Twelve entrepreneurial pitch winners who advanced from local pitch competitions hosted by a collaboration of several local partners will vie for additional prize money at a regional pitch competition hosted by New North Inc. The NEW Launch Alliance HATCH Event will take place on Thursday, December 2, at 5 p.m. at the Urban Hub, located at 340 North Broadway, Suite 200, in Green Bay. Participants will have a chance for broader investor attention, along with prize money of $3,000 for first place, $2,000 for second place and $1,000 for third place. The top winners will be invited to give an update to an even wider investor/business audience during the New North Summit, scheduled for June 9, 2022, at Lambeau Field.

Gumball machine sparks idea for fitness buffs' nutritional supplement business

GREEN BAY -- Business ideas can come from almost anywhere, and that was the case for Thomas McKay when he forgot his pre-workout supplement.
“I was at a store and was going to go to the gym afterwards, but realized I had left my supplements at home,” McKay said. “I walked past a gumball machine and thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be great to dispense supplements in a gumball?’”
Excited about the idea, McKay called Jacob Langer, a good friend whom he had worked out with before moving to La Crosse. Langer, a mixed martial arts competitor and boxer from Marinette, is a believer in the use of supplements and immediately got on board with the idea...

ALGOMA — In 2020, the cancellation of art fairs and craft shows lead area artisans to come together under one roof: The Honeycomb in Algoma.
“It’s just always best to have different avenues where artisans can sell their products,” Kimberly Iwen, owner of The Honeycomb and Queen Bee Handmade Soap explained. “All these artisans are friends and people that I know very well from the festivals and farmers markets, and they have high-quality products, and that’s what I wanted to focus on in my store.”
