Gaining ground: 2020 census data shows region adding people, growing more diverse

The 2020 U.S. Census data shows the New North region added more than 50,000 residents and became more diverse. The region now makes up 22 percent of the state’s population, up from 21 percent in 2010.

Door County Medical Center to build new Sister Bay facility

DOOR COUNTY -- A retail pharmacy, an enlarged gym, and possibly a golf rehab space will be some of the things you will find at a new medical facility being planned in Sister Bay. Door County Medical Center received preliminary approval for the new clinic and rehab services facility from the Sister Bay Plan Commission that will be located near Highway 57 and Canterbury Lane. When completed, the building will offer enough space for five full-time clinicians and other rotating specialists to serve the needs of the Northern Door community. Door County Medical Center currently operates facilities in Fish Creek and near the Scandia Village complex in Sister Bay. President and CEO Brian Stephens says Northern Door is the fastest-growing market for clinic and rehab services in Door County Medical Center’s service area. Green Bay, JBS formalize land donation for housing, neighborhood amenities
GREEN BAY PRESS GAZETTE

GREEN BAY - Mayor Eric Genrich and JBS executives on Friday formalized the food company's donation of $500,000 and 26.5 acres of land to the city.

On Friday, Hicham Timejardine, general manager of the JBS meatpacking plant in Green Bay, said the donation will spur development of more than 200 units of housing to address a shortage of housing in the region while also adding outdoor recreation spaces in the area....

Making way: Preparations underway for Fincantieri Marinette Marine contract

Fincantieri Marinette Marine CEO Mark Vandroff hopes residents of the area surrounding the shipbuilder’s grounds will forgive the company for the disruption of blasting and dredging work taking place to make way for work on the Constellation-class guided missile frigate contract. While noisy, the work is the sound of economic progress.

The shipbuilder is investing $200 million in capital expansions to prepare for the U.S. Navy contract, which could be worth $5.5 billion if all options are exercised. FMM has two ships under contract so far, and the Navy is requesting funding for the third of 10 ships in the budget that’s now on Capitol Hill. The Navy has made public its plans to eventually build a class of at least 20 of the vessels, Vandroff says...

Manitowoc Company closes on H&E crane business deal
WLUK 

MANITOWOC -- The Manitowoc Company has closed on its purchase of H&E Equipment Services Inc.'s crane business. Manitowoc says the deal will be worth about $130 million.

"The acquisition of the H&E crane business advances our strategy to expand our aftermarket activities within a significant geographic region," Manitowoc president and CEO Aaron H. Ravenscroft said in a news release. "The crane business will operate under our new wholly-owned subsidiary, MGX Equipment Services, LLC. Together, we are in a stronger position to continue delivering industry-leading products and support for our customers while growing shareholder value."...
