The Intel Foundation and the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation have joined STEM Next Opportunity Fund and the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation to launch the Million Girls Moonshot. The effort is designed to engage 1 million school-age girls in the United States in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) learning opportunities over the next five years. Read More 2> Business Expansion & Development Foxconn tops off steel frame for globe-shaped data center The Daily Reporter Foxconn Technology Group announced on Thursday that crews have finished using structural steel to top off a 100-foot globe-shaped data center at the company’s Mount Pleasant campus.
The so-called High-Performance Computing Data Center is part of a six-building complex for Foxconn Industrial Internet, or Fii, a subsidiary that works on automation and so-called smart manufacturing. Crews led by Mortenson Construction completed the frame of the globe-shaped data center and will now begin installing more than 600 pieces of glass to enclose the structure.
Foxconn said it has spent more than $750 million — on capital structures, salaries and other things — since breaking ground at the Mount Pleasant site in 2018.

Economic Development Feature Wisconsin added 16,700 private sector jobs in August BizTimes Wisconsin added 16,700 private sector jobs from July to August, a 0.7% increase, and the state’s unemployment rate dropped from 7.1% to 6.2%, according to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data released today by the Department of Workforce Development.
Although the data suggests Wisconsin’s labor force is bouncing back, the rate of recovery is down from July, which saw an increase of 25,000 private sector jobs.
Wisconsin added 97,600 jobs in June, a 4.4% growth rate from the previous month, according to revised numbers from DWD. In May, the state added 68,100 jobs for a 3.1% growth rate.
