Like many college students, Tyrone Powell struggled to find his path in life. Born and raised in France where his dad played professional basketball, Powell had followed in his dad’s footsteps and spent his teen years as a basketball standout.
He played on the France Youth National team before relocating to Milwaukee, his dad’s hometown.
“I had two choices,” Powell said. “I could stay in France and play for a youth professional team or play basketball in the states. I decided to move and enrolled at Wauwatosa West High, played basketball there, and then joined the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay as a walk-on.”...

ONEIDA — Julia Royal has spent weeks picking out clips and connecting charms to craft handmade jewelry. For Julia, it's not just a hobby. She has her own business, JJ's Jewels, and she even has her own business cards.
"I was going to make my mom a pair of earrings for her birthday, and I found out that I like doing it so much," Royal said. "So I invested some money, and everybody liked it, so I started making more."
Royal is just one of the many young entrepreneurs in Oneida who brought their ideas and creations to the Oneida Farmer's Market on Thursday. The first annual Homeschool Children's Business Fair was held, and it included around 10 vendors...
Cocktail bar takes residency in 100+-year-old Algoma building

ALGOMA – Looking for a new place to enjoy a cocktail? Well, a cocktail bar in Algoma recently opened in a building that has been in Algoma for over 100 years.
Ruse Cocktails in Algoma told Local 5 that they have been sitting on the idea for a cocktail bar for quite some time but were waiting for the right location. Well, that location is 322 Steele Street in Algoma.
The space was originally a bar back when the building was built in 1905. Ruse Cocktails says the place has a history of serving drinks....

ASHWAUBENON – There's nothing bundt sweetness about Ashwaubenon's new bakery.
Nothing Bundt Cakes, a chain bakery that started in Nevada, is on track to open at 2621 S. Oneida St., suite 102, by the end of the year.
The company's website said it offers "a modern spin to a classic treat," with various sizes and flavors of Bundt cakes, all crowned with their signature cream cheese frosting.

Leo's Mercado fills void for Mexican grocery store in Marinette WFRV
MARINETTE — When you think of Wisconsin, you don’t immediately think of authentic Mexican food. This is exactly why one family wanted to help bring a piece of home here.
“We used to live in Texas, so when we heard about this opening, I was super, super excited,” said Allison Blair, who crossed the border from Michigan to go to the new store, Leo’s Mercado, in Marinette.
