It is an ice breaking passenger and vehicle ferry that can carry 15 passenger vehicles. The ferry will be used year-round, carrying people on the St Mary's River, in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, between Barbeau and Neebish Island.

Lakeland University to unveil new halls at Rededication Ceremony
LAKELAND UNIVERSITY
As students return to the Lakeland University campus this month for fall classes, two new residence halls await them, part of the largest single investment in Lakeland’s main campus in the institution’s 160-year history.
Lakeland constructed the new halls to serve freshman and sophomores, along with a water tower and related infrastructure. The project is funded by a $35.4 million fixed-rate low interest loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development division, which LU received in 2020.
Lakeland will host a Re-Dedication Ceremony and Open House on Thursday, August 25, at 5 p.m., followed by tours and a free picnic. The event is open to the public, and folks can register to attend at Lakeland.edu/rsvp. The deadline to sign up is August 17...

FOND DU LAC - The city of Fond du Lac is looking for ways to improve its riverfront just west of the downtown area. Currently, the river is bound by mismatched wood banks, concrete and overgrown vegetation—a stark contrast to the otherwise aesthetically-pleasing main street just one block away.

Several Sheboygan restaurants have been featured in Milwaukee Magazine’s August issue, “Foodie Road Trip.” Sheboygan is one of four cities included in the issue’s “Dining Destinations” special section, along with Madison, La Crosse and Stevens Point.
Senior Editor and Dining Critic Ann Christenson described the Sheboygan food scene as one that combines “traditional, informal foods popularized generations ago (fish fries, sausages)” with “a deep appreciation for more refined fare that still feels very Wisconsin.”

Since 2003, EAA Girlventure camp is teaching teens the ins and outs of working in aviation and helping to get more women in the industry.
There will be approximately 14,500 openings for airline pilots each year for the next decade, according to a projection by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Yet as of 2021, only about 8% of commercial pilots were women. That number only rises to 9% when taking into account all pilots.
