Fox Locks, Kaukauna to celebrate opening of five locks on Fox River

KAUKAUNA -- The Fox Locks system and the City of Kaukauna are celebrating the opening five locks on the Fox River Tuesday, marking the first time in years boaters will be able to travel the river from Menasha to Kaukauna.
A ceremony is scheduled for 3-5 p.m.
Veterans Memorial Lift Bridge has been repaired and will raise and lower for boat traffic for the first time in more than 35 years....

Waupaca’s Swan Park playground, splashpad fundraising gets Community First CU boost

WAUPACA – A leadership gift commitment from Community First Credit Union will help replace an aging playground at Swan Park with a modern, inclusive and accessible play area and splash pad.
The $1.4 million project will reinvigorate one of the city’s busiest parks while enhancing Waupaca’s reputation as a great place to live and visit, says Andrew Whitman, Waupaca Parks and Recreation Director. “Portions of the playground have been removed due to safety concerns and issues,” he said. “This started the conversation about replacing the playground with an opportunity to make this a special place for the Waupaca community.”....
