GREEN BAY - The Cannery Public Market is returning to Green Bay -- now as a test kitchen designed to encourage food and restaurant businesses to thrive. The Cannery shut down roughly three years ago due to COVID-19, but now it's back and ready to bring new life to the area.

Kick Ash Baskets' long, steady growth spells success for Neenah man's grilling accessory

It is fitting to refer to Chad Romzek’s 2010 startup business as resulting from “the spark of an idea.” The business, Kick Ash Baskets, ignited into a line of specialty grilling baskets that are sold throughout the United States and globally.
A trained mechanical engineer, Romzek, of Neenah, worked for companies like Boeing in Seattle before moving back to Wisconsin in 2009 with Kimberly Clark. Although he enjoyed those jobs, he was pulled toward entrepreneurship.
“I knew I wanted to do something else and had a few ideas,” he said. “In 2010, I made a prototype of a grilling basket and started to think, ‘Maybe, I can make this work...’”

As a restaurant, J’s BBQ has collected fans since it opened in 2014. But when owners Susan Reiterman and Jen Rintelmann and their son Jadon (the “J” in “J’s”) bottled and vacuum-packed their menu items for sale in a “country store” during the height of the pandemic, it proved a perfect testing ground for a pivot away from the stresses of the restaurant business.
