Program finalized for second New North Summit virtual event, set for April 14
The New NorthNEW NORTH, April 8, 2021 – The New North Summit ‘Playbook for Recovery’ series continues with a second virtual event on April 14 from 9-10 a.m. Themed as the ‘Business & Community Training Camp,’ the program lineup includes an emphasis on impacts to regional business and economic activity due to COVID-19, along with updates on successful entrepreneurial efforts in the New North region.
A third virtual event will be held on May 12, followed by the traditional large, in-person New North Summit, scheduled for June 10 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay...

Since 2018, students on the Fox Cities campus of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh have been designing, building, adjusting and improving an electric basic utility vehicle, or BUV. It’s an always-evolving project giving those involved opportunities to work on a wide variety of skills, including engineering and technology.
The project is steered by Warren Vaz, an assistant engineering professor in his fifth year at the Fox Cities campus. It’s an idea he brought with him from his days as a doctoral student about a decade ago at the Missouri University of Science and Technology. He took the framework of a project undergraduate students were working on there and retooled it for UW Oshkosh students....
UnitedHealthcare brings solar cell phone charging station to Appleton WBAY When visiting Appleton’s Public Library, people may notice a new solar charging station out front. It’s one of three UnitedHealthcare has installed statewide.
The station is something Renee Ladewig-Lathrop and another UnitedHealthcare employee came up with after noticing a particular problem.
“As we all know, we have that serious panic when our cell phone battery is about to die. And for most of us, it’s really not an issue,” said Ladewig-Lathrop. “But if you’re homeless or you’re housing insecure that can really be a problem.”...
Tractor Supply Co. coming to former Shopko buildings in Kewaunee, Oconto Green Bay Press Gazette KEWAUNEE - Those forlorn, large and empty Shopko Hometown buildings sitting vacant for nearly two years in Kewaunee and Oconto will be filled by a national home improvement and rural lifestyle retailer.
Tractor Supply Co. plans to open stores in the former Shopkos this summer in Kewaunee and this fall in Oconto, a spokesperson for the company confirmed in an email. The idea for the new stores was brought to officials in Kewaunee early this year and in Oconto about six weeks ago, but plans were formalized in Kewaunee a couple of weeks ago and in Oconto last week, those officials said....

APRIL 6, 2021 — A new report from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) sets out a comprehensive strategy for investing in people to help Wisconsin recover from the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, WEDC Secretary and CEO Missy Hughes announced today. The report, Wisconsin Tomorrow: Building an Economy for All, is intended to help guide the state’s use of federal American Rescue Package (ARP) funds as well other public and private sector investments, Hughes said.... Tony Evers on Tuesday announced $46 million in new grants for small businesses funded through the federal CARES Act.
An estimated 9,300 small businesses will receive $5,000 grants through the state’s “We’re All In” program, according to the governor’s office.
The program is administered by the Wisconsin Department of Revenue in partnership with Wisconsin Economic Development Corp.
