WWBIC’s Invest in Business Grant is available to support diverse Wisconsin businesses including those in underserved communities or other areas disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. $3,000,000 in total will be distributed with individual grants available based on need up to $10,000.
The Grant will assist eligible diverse micro and small businesses in both urban and rural communities with sustainability, and growth; further advancing capital across Wisconsin.

Almost everyone familiar with the entrepreneurial culture in northeastern Wisconsin will know the name Ryan Kauth. Kauth has spent decades mentoring and teaching aspiring and existing business owners. Roles have included serving as director of the Small Business Development Center at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, senior lecturer at UWGB and senior vice president of lending at GreenLeaf Bank. As a volunteer, he has dedicated hundreds of hours as a Green Bay SCORE mentor, served on numerous boards, judged dozens of business plan competitions, and among many other activities, was a founding member and lead organizer of 1 Million Cups Green Bay.
Growth spurts: Collaborative startup accelerator gbeta 1915 Studios welcomes fourth cohort of early-stage entrepreneurs

Since Georgia-Pacific’s 1915 Studios launch in collaboration with startup accelerator gener8tor in 2021, three cohorts of early-stage startups have capitalized on the resources available through the free, 12-week accelerator program housed within G-P’s Neenah Technical Center. And the fourth is currently underway at 1915 Marathon Avenue. There, early-stage startups have access to a hub of idea-generation, product development, technology and creative resources. As of early 2023, a total of 13 startup companies have graduated from the program. The common denominator among the startups: a focus on innovative sustainability solutions.
Celebrating 10 years of Small Business Academy WISCONSIN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION
MADISON, WI. MARCH 29, 2023 –Wisconsin business owners and entrepreneurs will have the chance to learn and network for free during the 10th annual Lieutenant Governor’s Small Business Academy. This four-day virtual conference takes place May 2-5. On May 5, participants will have the opportunity to join in-person events across the state hosted by partner organizations. “Small businesses are integral to our communities, providing jobs, opportunities and investments that keep our communities vibrant,” said Missy Hughes, secretary and CEO of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), the state’s lead economic development agency. “The state of Wisconsin is proud to support our small businesses through educational and networking opportunities such as Small Business Academy and a wide variety of grants, mentoring and other support available through WEDC and its partners.”
