Green Bay trucking companies save with natural gas as diesel prices sit near record high

GREEN BAY — Northeast Wisconsin truckers are dealing with increasing diesel costs, as prices sit almost $2 more per gallon over a year ago.
"A lot of times, you have deals with your customers that you don't get paid for 45, 60, maybe 90 days," Contract Transport Services President Curt Reitz said. "But your fuel bill's due this week."
But Reitz transitioned to another method of fuel in 2020.
"It's very similar to what you get out of your stove on your gas stoves at home," he said.

OSHKOSH -- As Wisconsin farms prepare for the upcoming growing season, some are having a hard time finding enough workers. This would leave fields full, cows not milked, cheese not processed.
With their busy season quickly approaching, local farmers say they’re nervous they won’t be able to find enough people to help them out.

Dressed in bright green safety vests, agriculture students were on the move. Ninety-six dairy science students from 22 different universities got a short course in the business of agriculture.

MERCER — Gov. Tony Evers, together with Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) Secretary and CEO Missy Hughes, announced, with new recipients in Iron County awarded today, the Main Street Bounceback grant program has now helped fill vacant storefronts in all 72 counties and has helped more than 3,400 small businesses and nonprofit organizations across the state.
In April 2021, Gov. Evers announced the state would dedicate $50 million toward helping small business owners open physical locations and communities fill vacant storefronts. An analysis from November 2021 showed that as a share of federal pandemic aid the state has received and directed by Gov. Evers, Wisconsin ranked second in the country for aid directed to economic development, and first in the country in aid allocated to businesses..

Electric vehicle experts encourage Wisconsin lawmakers, officials to prepare for expanding charging infrastructure

Electric vehicle experts in Wisconsin are urging state lawmakers and transportation officials to do their part in preparing the state for expanding vehicle charging infrastructure.
The Wisconsin Technology Council hosted a panel this week to talk about the state of electric vehicle technology and related infrastructure. The event was broadcast by WisconsinEye.
Panelist David Noyce, who is the executive associate dean at the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s College of Engineering, said consumer worries about not being able to recharge an electric vehicle — what the industry calls range anxiety — is still one of the biggest barriers to electric vehicle adoption....
