NEW NORTH, March 18, 2020 – Renee Torzala, a community-focused marketing and business professional in Northeast Wisconsin, will join New North Inc. as Vice President of Marketing & Investor Relations, according to President and CEO Barb LaMue. She will begin the position on April 1, 2021.

In this role, Torzala will lead marketing and branding initiatives, manage investor relations and coordinate events, including the New North Summit and the investor appreciation event.

Torzala has a long history in economic development and community involvement on both a professional and personal level. Through her private-sector employment, she has held positions encompassing marketing, public relations, communications, fundraising, and community partnerships/relations. Kewaunee gets $1.75 million in grants to buy, renovate blighted properties
Green Bay Press Gazette
KEWAUNEE - The city is laying groundwork for major improvements to its harbor area and downtown after it received $1.75 million from the Community Development Block Grant program to acquire blighted properties and eliminate that blight.

The two grants awarded to the city by the program allow it to buy three designated pieces of property, take down buildings and renovate the space so it can be redeveloped. Requests for bids to perform the work are being prepared and issued.

Three Wisconsin cities in top 200 of new ranking of best U.S. cities to live in
We Are Green Bay
(NEXSTAR) – In a new ranking, Wisconsin had three cities make the top 200, Green Bay, Milwaukee and Madison all made the cut.

The best U.S. city to live in can be found in Texas, according to a new ranking released by Niche, a company that analyzes public data and reviews to create rankings, report cards and more for schools, colleges and neighborhoods.

The Woodlands, Texas snagged the top spot on the list, scoring well in public schools, housing, family life and diversity.

The master-planned community is located outside Houston and is known for its wooded forests and family-friendly cultural offerings.

The #BadgerBounceback Live Sessions series provides an opportunity for Wisconsinites to discuss and provide feedback on Gov. Evers' Badger Bounceback agenda with the goal of working together to help pass a bold, bipartisan budget that will help our state bounce back from COVID-19 and better than we were before this pandemic hit. Topics covered in these sessions include pressing issues facing Wisconsin families, including affordable healthcare, bolstering our state's economy, improving education for all Wisconsin students, and more. Wisconsinites can also share their questions about the Governor's budget on social media by posting using the "#BadgerBounceback" hashtag.

“Our Badger Bounceback agenda is all about making sure our state can bounce back from COVID-19 and better than we were before this pandemic hit," said Gov. Evers. “But as I said during my budget message, and as has been the case since before I took office, I'm not going to make decisions about you, without you. These Badger Bounceback Live Sessions are key opportunities to listen and learn from the people of our state in hopes that we can pass a bold, bipartisan budget that will address the urgent challenges facing our state so we can bounce back from this crisis."

Fond du Lac tops list of cities which added jobs in 2020, according to study; Sheboygan, Oshkosh not far behind

While the COVID-19 pandemic has gutted jobs across the United States, some markets are growing, and Fond du Lac is at the top of one list.

According to data analyzed by 24/7 Wall Street from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, several Wisconsin cities grew their labor force from February 2020 to November. The group found that Oshkosh, Neenah and Sheboygan also cracked the top 30 in the country.

Fox Valley Technical College instructor in the running for nation’s ‘Favorite Chef’ 
WBAY
APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY) - A Northeast Wisconsin man is among those leading a national contest to take the title of Favorite Chef.

Jeff Igel is currently the top vote-getter in the group round of voting on favchef.com.

Igel is a Culinary Arts instructor at Fox Valley Technical College.

He says if he wins the contest, he’ll donate the $50,000 prize to scholarships for students because he says that’s what helped him pursue his dream.

“So there were people who didn’t even know who I was that were donating money, and I was receiving this support. I’ve felt for a very long time now it’s all about giving back. And it’s like wow, if we could put $50,000 in the bank, think of how many aspiring chefs and cooks we could take care of for a really long time...
