The list was published by the Ascent, a personal finance website by The Motley Fool.
According to a news release, the Ascent analyzed cost-of-living data from The Council for Community and Economic Research’s most recent Cost of Living Index — which measures the costs of groceries, housing, utilities, transportation, healthcare, and miscellaneous goods and services — along with expenditure data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and income figures from the U.S. Census Bureau.

Economic Development Feature Kewaunee County housing study confirms need for development and growth WBAY GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - For the first time Kewaunee County conducted a housing study that has revealed the demand for single-family homes and other development. The county said the housing study, in partnership with Bay-Lake Regional Planning Commission, is a way to confirm what many people saw as a setback in the area: the need for housing, in particular single-family homes, senior living units, and rentals.
“The more development, that means that’s more property tax base, which therefore reduces peoples’ property taxes because we have more people paying in,” said Scott Feldt, Kewaunee County Administrator.
Right now, nearly 90% of housing units in the county are occupied and two-thirds of the people living in them are 50 years or older. The Bruemmer family has given the park a $100,000 and the county and Zoological Society of Kewaunee County are each matching that amount.
“We’re really excited, we’ve been working on this for a long time, our first phase was to take care of the animals that we had already here, give them new exhibits, new fencing, and we’ve done that part,” said Pam Zander, President of the Zoological Society of Kewaunee County.

Leadership in the New North Progress Lakeshore names new leader Insight Publications Progress Lakeshore has named Jamie Zastrow as its new executive director.
Zastrow comes to the role from the Manitowoc County Homebuilders Association, where she was executive officer. She has experience in building membership, developing and maintaining relationships, and developing projects that benefit the community.
Before working with the MCHA, Zastrow was director of Mainly Manitowoc for six years.
