Expansion and Business Development in the New North Wisconsin gives Brown County $500,000 to buy power plant site, key to removing coal piles from downtown Green Bay Green Bay Press-Gazette GREEN BAY - Local efforts to relocate the coal piles to the mouth of the Fox River and out of central Green Bay received a major gift from the state Monday as more related news is expected Tuesday.
Brown County will get a $500,000 grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. to help buy a 40-acre portion of the former Pulliam power plant site from Wisconsin Public Service Corp., Gov. Tony Evers said. The grant would partly fund a key step toward moving the coal piles out of a highly visible area of Green Bay: finding a new home for them.
