Subject: What you need to know regarding Bill 14 and the RTA~

~Bill 14 and its effects on the Residential Tenancy Act~

As of July 18, 2024, landlords must create a Basic BCeID with which they access the newly created Portal to generate Notices to End Tenancy. These notices will have a unique notice ID that will be provided to current tenants. (The Notice must still be served on the tenant.)

You may wonder, what are the new RTA(Residential Tenancy Act) changes?

• Three Months Notice for Landlords Use instead of the previous Two Months Notice
• 12 Months occupancy is required when the Landlords Use provision is invoked instead of the previous Six Months occupancy requirement.
Please see the attached Bill 14 - Tenancy Statutes Amendment Act 2024 for additional directives via clause changes.

As always, I recommend speaking to the appropriate authority(Residential Tenancy Branch) to determine how these changes may affect you.
