2014 Domaine Piron Lameloise Chenas Quartz Gamay Noir Beaujolais, France
$24 bottle
Piron favors roundness, fruit and drinkability of his wines which speak of terroir and highlight what makes them traditional. The cuvée’s name comes from its granite soils covered with quartz crystals. Great acidity and shines through to a fine peppery finish. |

2012 Casa Vinicola Botter Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC Riserva Abruzzo, Italy
$15 bottleThe wine ages for at least 12 months in wooden casks and then for another 12 months in steel tanks. Deep ruby red colour with garnet flecks tending to purple with ageing. Intense, vinous bouquet with an immediate cherry flavour changing to notes of blackberries and liquorice with bottle aging. Dry and herbaceous on the palate, it becomes round full-bodied and more balanced with age.
