2012 Antiyal Kuyen Valle del Maipo, Chile Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Petit Verdot
$26 bottle
This delicious blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere and Petit Verdot is made from grapes grown in the Maipo Valley. The wine is produced under sustainable practices with respect to nature and aims to be a pure expression of our terroir. The Kuyen blend is aged for one year in French oak barrels, then bottled and aged an additional six months in the cellar prior to release.
92 points Vinous Josh Raynolds “Opaque, bright ruby. Sexy, expansive dark berry, floral pastille and incense aromas show excellent clarity and pick up a mineral nuance with air. Sweet, seamless and penetrating, offering intense boysenberry and cherry-cola flavors and a touch of musky licorice. Fine-grained tannins sneak in slowly on a very long, sappy finish, with the floral and cola notes repeating.” |
| | 2014 Villard Expresion Reserve Syrah Casablanca Valley, Chile
$18 bottle
"The Casablanca Valley is the longest established of Chile's recognised cooler climate regions, but syrah is not the variety that springs to mind as a Casablanca speciality. There is a lovely purity about this wine, certainly a syrah at the floral and perfumed end of the spectrum, a hint of freshly laid tar, balsamic notes. 65% ageing in oak adding gloss and smoothness, the palate rich with black fruits, all very silky, very seductive, and nicely balanced too. A most impressive wine." - Tom Cannavan |
