| Today from 5 - 7PM taste a Carignane from California planted by the man who played Davy Crockett, Fess Parker! Most producers working with Carignane here produce big, powerful renditions of the grape. Amplify Wines prefers to showcase the fruit of this place through the process of carbonic maceration. They let carbonic do its thing for about 6 days; once the berries split, they press. As a result, end up with a limpid, magenta rendition of Carignane. Delicate, supple, soft red wine with just a hint of the savage. |

Now under the stewardship of the Chumash Band of Native American Indians. Since taking over this now-16-year-old site in 2010, the Chumash have taken quality to another level, embracing the natural environment and encouraging biodiversity in the form of owl and bat houses, wild roaming cattle, and nitrogen-fixing legumes. With natural California oaks and scrub brush dotting the rugged landscape of far eastern Santa Ynez, it resembles something between the Roussillon and the African savanna. The rows are laced with rocks galore, with gravel and silt from a nearby dry riverbed, as well as serpentine that has washed down from Figueroa Mountain.
