Matt Markay, NCC Project Coordinator, attended the 30th anniversary celebration for NCC partner organization Interfaith Alliance, held at Washington D.C.'s Planet Word Museum on May 29. The night included remarks from Acting President Rev. Paul Brandeis Raushenbush, as well as the ceremony for the Achieving Democracy Together Awards. Recipients of the award included Rep. Jamie Raskin (MD-8) and Sen. Rev. Raphael Warnock (GA). For 30 years, Interfaith Alliance has been working at the intersection of faith and politics, serving as a voice for people of diverse faiths and backgrounds. |

Church Fellowship and Partnership: NCC Participates in EKD and UCC Consultation |

The Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) and the United Church of Christ (UCC) Consultation hosted an engaging Ecumenical Advocacy & Faith Partnerships in D.C. panel that included Washington Interfaith Staff Community (WISC) members: Rev. Dr. Leslie Copeland-Tune, NCC Associate General Secretary and Advocacy Director; Rev. Michael Neuroth, Director of the UCC Office of Public Policy and Advocacy; Rev. Amy Reumann, Director of Advocacy at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America; and Rev. Jimmie R. Hawkins, Advocacy Director for the Office of Public Witness & Presbyterian Ministry and the UN, on May 28 at the United Methodist Building. |
NCC participated in the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) and the United Church of Christ (UCC) Consultation in Washington, D.C., that took place from May 27-31. One of the events included a panel discussion on Ecumenical Advocacy & Faith Partnerships in D.C. at the United Methodist Building on May 28, which included Washington Interfaith Staff Community (WISC) members: Rev. Dr. Leslie Copeland-Tune, NCC Associate General Secretary and Advocacy Director; Rev. Michael Neuroth, Director of the UCC Office of Public Policy and Advocacy; Rev. Amy Reumann, Director of Advocacy at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America; and Rev. Jimmie R. Hawkins, Advocacy Director for the Office of Public Witness and Presbyterian Ministry and the UN. Panelists engaged in an informative discussion on the interconnectedness of faith and advocacy, WISC as an incubator for interfaith relationships, the work of organizations within WISC, and more. NCC also attended the UCC and EKD worship service and reception at The United Church on May 30. Special attendees were present at this time of partnership and church fellowship, including Rev. Dr. Karen Georgia Thompson, UCC General Minister and President, and Bishop Petra Bosse Huber, EKD's Vice President and Head of the Department for Ecumenical Relations and Ministries Abroad. |

Get Involved with NCC Freedom Summer Campaign |

Participate in the National Council of the Churches of Christ for NCC Freedom Summer, a faith-based civic engagement campaign from June 19 — August 17, 2024. This summer, NCC along with anchor partners Faith for Black Lives, Faiths United to Save Democracy, Southern Poverty Law Center, Repairers of the Breach, and others, will mobilize voters in five priority states (Mississippi, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and Michigan) through voter registration, voter education, and voter mobilization. Get involved in this initiative by sponsoring a fellow, hosting or attending one of the Freedom Summer events, donating items, or other forms of engagement!

Register for Bread for the World's Advocacy Summit in Washington, D.C. |

Register to attend Bread for the World's Advocacy Summit at the InterContinental Washington, D.C. – The Wharf, June 10–11. This year's summit is themed, "Nourish Our Future," and will feature numerous guest speakers and subject-matter experts. Other offerings include status presentations on current policies and discussions on best practices for addressing hunger through policies and programs funded by the federal government. Invitation-only sessions will be held before the main programs on Day 1 of the summit. The Pan-African Consultation and Latino Convening will discuss food insecurity in Pan-African/Black and Latino communities.
