Subject: TWO New Free Webinars Next Week!

Mastering Narrative Filmmaking
FREE WEBINAR
Be A Better Filmmaker In Only An Hour!
(And It's FREE!)
Sunday, July 5th • 1pm PDT

Filmmaker and graduate screenwriting professor Tom Provost is going to share some of his best stuff from his upcoming Cinema Language class in this live, free webinar. He'll be packing a lot of information into an hour, focusing mainly on what he describes as the essence of storytelling--Disclosure of Information. He'll reveal all the ways master filmmakers reveal information, controlling how an audience reacts to your story every step of the way. Good, effective stories don't happen by accident. They're crafted. And just like you can't build a house without the proper tools, you can't build a good story without understanding the different ways to convey information to your audience for maximum effect.

He'll show clips and stills from a range of classic films (new and old) to illustrate these ideas, and answer all your questions. You'll walk away with the ability to write better, direct more effectively, and watch movies with a new, keen eye.

Space is limited, so sign up early. If you can't make it, we'll send you a recording of the session.

Don't Miss Episode 3 of My New Zoom Interview Show!
With Filmmaker Rob Smat, Discussing The Last Whistle
July 2nd • 5pm PDT (8pm EDT)

I'm lucky to have writer/director/producer Rob Smat on my next episode of No Budget Confidential. We're going to talk about his new $100k feature The Last Whistle, which is currently streaming on Netflix. Rob is a remarkable guy. First, he's young. He graduated from USC in 2017. By May 2018, he was shooting his first feature in his hometown of Fort Worth. By November, he was premiering it in festivals. He garnered a worldwide distribution deal with Vertical in 2019 and the film made it on Netflix by early 2020. And, he's finishing up a feature-length documentary right now!

Look, I believe we can learn a lot from overachievers, and there are so many great lessons from Rob's story. Join me this Thursday as we break it all down, share pics from the set, show you clips from the film, and answer all your questions. It's Live, it's Free, it's No Budget Confidential.

Two 3 1/2 Hour Sessions Beginning on August 1st
Every single choice you make reveals information to the audience. How to do it, when to do it, why to do it, as well as what the effect will be on your audience--all are determined by the manner in which you disclose each and every piece of information in a script.

One 3 1/2 Hour Session on August 15th
Tom takes you through the journey from script to final edited product of his feature The Presence, which starred Oscar Winner Mira Sorvino, in this candid and revealing insider's look at just how a movie comes to fruition.
