| | | KillHer is "Bloody Good Fun!"
Thanks to all of you who attended my Screamfest screening of KillHer on the 13th. It was an outstanding, raucous affair, one of the best festival screenings I've ever been a part of. We sold out quickly and the festival gave us an encore screening, which was also a blast. I've never heard so many people cheer during a screening!
We picked up a few reviews, calling the film "original and entertaining...bloody good fun" and "pure fun," which is exactly what we were going for. I will let you know when the film becomes available to watch online, hopefully after several more festival appearances. I'm leaving for Minneapolis in a few hours for our next screening at the Twin Cities Film Festival this Thursday.
In the meantime, I wanted to let you know about a couple of podcasts I spoke on recently, and a couple of events you might be interested in attending this Saturday.
Adam Mervis and I joined Rob Hagan's screenwriting podcast Screenwriting: From The Trenches, and talked about the making of our $50k feature The Last Days of Capitalism, and also about a number of other film topics in general. You can catch that here or on your favorite podcasting platform.
And I was interviewed on Liz Manashil and Alrik Bursell's popular microbudget filmmaking podcast Making Movies Is Hard recently, and that episode should be dropping in the coming weeks. I've known Liz for years and we covered the gamut. Check out their past episodes wherever you listen to podcasts. |
| | | | Brooks Elms' Concept Building Workshop Oct 29th
You may have attended the Guest Expert Speaker Series event I did with screenwriting coach Brooks Elms back in 2021--"Hollywood Screenwriting Tricks for No-Budget Filmmakers"--and if you did, you know how enthusiastic and knowledgable he is about kickstarting your writing ideas. In his upcoming FREE workshop, WGA screenwriter Elms will show you how to go from hating loglines, to loving them, (well, at least hating them a lot less). And that will make your next film so much better. This event is online and starts at 10am PST on Saturday, Oct. 29th. Get more information and register here:

| | | | | VisionFest Returns to Los Angeles! Saturday, Oct 29th
For years, VisionFest, presented by LA film collective Filmmakers Alliance, was one of the best networking events for indie filmmakers of the year. The evening combined food, drinks, screenings, and lots of schmoozing, but geared to the blue-collared reality of independent filmmaking. This event wasn't fancy-pants and exclusionary--it was open to any and all, but attracted some very talented filmmakers, and frankly, was a lot of fun.
VisionFest disappeared a couple of years ago like a lot of good things when COVID hit, but I'm thrilled to announce that it's back! And this year's event looks to be equally as fun as those past events.
Celebrate indie film, see old friends and meet new ones at this year's VisionFest, happening this Saturday Oct 29th beginning at 6pm PST. This is an in-person event, (just like all events used to be), so it's only available to those here in LA.
