A CHRISTMAS GIFT FOR YOU
Wishing Everyone A
Happy Holiday!

I wanted to wish everyone a happy and safe holiday, and give you all a little holiday gift, but before I do...

Yes, that's me (circa early-70's, with my two sisters), and yes, I'm Jewish and that's a Christmas tree--my grandmother on my mother's side was Baptist, so I got to celebrate both Christmas and Hanukah when we went to see grandparents. I hope your holidays are as full as ours were back in the day!

I want to thank you all for participating in the various online programs I've conducted over the last year and a half. I really do miss teaching in person, but it's been fun having people from all over the world join me and my guests for these Zoom events.

I know not everyone on this list got a chance to see all these programs, and none of them are publicly available, so in the spirit of Christmas and giving, I thought I'd share a couple of my most popular events with you all. In addition to eating holiday dinners and watching Hallmark Christmas movies, you can sit down and get valuable no-budget filmmaking insights. And then, after you make your New Year's resolution to finally shoot that film you've always wanted to make, I hope that I can offer you some programs in 2022 to help you over the hump.

So enjoy these two programs and check back in with me next year!
Last year the Weaver Brothers shared how they made their incredible $7,000 feature Cosmos in a lively discussion, complete with clips from the film and behind-the-scenes photos:

Just a few months ago I invited filmmaker and film financier Naomi McDougall Jones to discuss how the indie film business has changed for worse over the last few years, and we then explored ways to improve that situation:

Bestie in action
Bestie Blow Dryer Holder -
The Perfect Stocking Stuffer

Ok, I know what you're thinking--Mark has totally sold out! No and yes. Yes, this is something completely different and non-film related, but during COVID last year, I took on a few side hustles and one of them was managing the Amazon product page for my friend's invention, the Bestie Blow Dryer Holder. I mention it now because I know how hard it is to find the right gift for that special someone in your life, whether they be your wife, girlfriend, mother, daughter, sister or best friend. And the Bestie is it!

Get that salon look at home with this revolutionary product. Bestie allows you to style your hair like a pro because you have BOTH hands free to brush and style. Are you recovering from a recent shoulder or wrist surgery and finding it impossible to blow dry your hair? Well, not anymore! Bestie holds the dryer for you. Or maybe you have thick hair and it takes forever to get ready in the morning. What if you could put on your makeup while blow drying your hair--that would cut your time in the morning in half!

Ok, yes, so that's one of my side gigs, but I can tell you honestly that it's a great product, it really works, and customers love it. It mounts permanently to the wall or temporarily to the mirror and is fully adjustable. Buy now and take advantage of a $5 Off Coupon, before that offer expires. Available on Amazon...

THE LAST DAYS OF
CAPITALISM
Now Playing On Amazon & Google

If you didn't see my new micro-budget feature The Last Days of Capitalism as part of my No Budget Film Club event, you can catch it now on Amazon or Google Play. Screenwriter Adam Mervis (21 Bridges, National Champions) came to me with his script and $35k and we went to Vegas before COVID hit and shot it in 10 days. We're currently still 100% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with 15 reviews. Our most recent review said:

“'The Last Days of Capitalism' is a thought-provoking, dynamic, wonderfully acted, and well-directed indie drama."
- Outtake Magazine

And if you see it, please do me a favor--please rate/review it on Amazon or Google, and please rate it on Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB:

RATE ON ROTTEN TOMATOES:  We're 100% Fresh with Critics, but we'd love to get the all-important Audience Score higher, too. Please visit our page and rate it. This will take you 3 seconds tops: Last Days Rotten Tomatoes

RATE ON IMDB:  While we were playing festivals our IMDB score was very high (over 9), but once the film was released, we got attacked by right-wing, out-of-the-country trolls who didn't even watch the film (it wasn't available outside the country) and our rating has sunk. [This film is NOT political and has nothing to do with economic systems!] With your help, I'm hopeful we can get it back up. Please don't let the Trolls win! Rating the film takes like 2 seconds: Last Days IMDB

NATIONAL CHAMPIONS
In Theaters Everywhere
Adam Mervis, my filmmaking partner on The Last Days of Capitalism, wrote the screenplay for (and is an executive producer on) the new film hitting theaters today, National Champions. Adam's manager got him a meeting with Basil Iwanyk's Thunder Road Pictures, the company behind the John Wick movies. He was there to talk about another project, but they asked him if he had any sports-related ideas, and Adam mentioned that he'd written a play about the College Football National Championship game. What if the top players playing in that game decided to boycott the game unless college players were paid by the NCAA? Thunder Road loved the idea and hired him to adapt it for the screen. The film opens wide today and is getting great reviews. Check it out at a theater near you!
