Take All 5 Courses In One,
Or Pick & Choose Individually
After announcing Tom Provost's terrific upcoming Cinema Language series of classes, which we are offering in a single, affordable package totaling up to 24 hours of instruction, many asked if there was a way to take the classes individually. We're happy to announce that, yes, you can take each class by itself, and be able to pick and choose which classes you'd most like to take. Of course, to get the best value, and to get the continuity that comes from taking it each weekend, you'll want to do the whole series. But below you'll find the links to each class' Eventbrite page.

Your SUBS promo code still works with any class you choose, and remember that discount is currently 30% off and is good until 11:55pm Tuesday, June 23rd. After that, the code will get you 20% off. It can be tricky finding where to input the promo code. Click the green TICKETS button, and then at the top of the next page, just above the words GENERAL ADMISSION, you'll see in blue Enter promo code

To take all 5 courses together, beginning July 11th, visit the Cinema Language: The Art of Storytelling page, where you can also read more about each class. And each individual course is linked on that page:

Two 3 1/2 Hour Sessions Beginning July 11th
An in-depth, entertaining intensive that explores how our best filmmakers expertly use the grammar of cinema to create the most effective and moving stories. With over 100 clips and stills, this class will illustrate and illuminate how to use the grammar of film to the best effect possible.

One 3 1/2 Hour Session on July 25th
An extensive and entertaining look at how filmmakers effectively reveal characters to the audience, whether in a straightforward or purposely misleading fashion. Clips from over ten hit movies such as The Dark Knight and Erin Brockovich are used to explore the numerous ways you can provide fast, compelling and incisive information to your audience.

Two 3 1/2 Hour Sessions Beginning on August 1st
Every single choice you make reveals information to the audience. How to do it, when to do it, why to do it, as well as what the effect will be on your audience--all are determined by the manner in which you disclose each and every piece of information in a script.

One 3 1/2 Hour Session on August 15th
Tom takes you through the journey from script to final edited product of his feature The Presence, which starred Oscar Winner Mira Sorvino, in this candid and revealing insider's look at just how a movie comes to fruition. Attendees will be able to read the first 30 pages of the script and then watch The Presence before this session.

One 3 1/2 Hour Session on August 22nd
Collating his experience from years of script doctoring and consulting, Provost will take you through his steps to rewriting and honing your screenplay.

Each class will be taught on Saturday afternoon, from Noon to 3:30pm PDT (3pm - 6:30pm EDT). Attendees will be able to interact with Tom throughout the sessions, asking whatever questions they have. And if you miss a session, a recording will be made available to you to watch on demand.

Tom looks forward to meeting you starting July 11th!

Don't Miss Episode 2 of My New Zoom Interview Show!
With Filmmaker Laura Somers, Discussing Rich Kids
June 25th • 5pm PDT (8pm EDT)

I'm thrilled to have writer/director Laura Somers on my next episode of No Budget Confidential. We'll get to talk about her no-budget wonder Rich Kids. Did someone tell you that Netflix no longer licenses no-budget indies with no-name actors? Yeah, I thought that too. But earlier this year they licensed Rich Kids, a $60k feature shot in Houston, TX starring a number of talented, but unknown, young local actors. We'll take you through the entire journey of how this underdog film was made and distributed. And if you're one of those people who has spent the last decade or two wondering when or if you'll ever make your own movie, Laura lived that life too. Until she didn't, and made it happen for herself. It's an inspiring story, trust me.

These shows are live, free and fun. We'll share clips and stills from the film and you'll get the chance to ask any questions you can think of. No holds barred. No secrets. No Budget Confidential. (Just keep it on the down low...)
