Thank You For Joining Us for
Monday's No Budget Film Club!

It was such a thrill to have you all--Audience Members, Industry Veterans, Acclaimed Filmmakers--together Monday evening to celebrate Doug and his movie The Heck With Hollywood!, and the Independent Film industry in general. The tenacity and spirit of this community was on full display in the film, and in the event.

I know this was special for Doug, re-visiting his work and the beginning of his career as a documentary filmmaker, but it was also very special for me. Monday's event was a relaunch of a screening series I started back in 2006 with the screening of Chris Nolan's no-budget feature Following. We held that event with Chris and Peter Broderick at Hollywood's Egyptian Theater. I had hoped to do many more of these events, but got sidetracked after 2008 with producing.

Monday was an opportunity to return to something I love--showcasing great no-budget films and filmmakers. It wasn't quite the same as The Egyptian, but in so many ways, it was much better. Having people join us from all over the world, especially industry legends, was truly a unique and special honor.

So many great lessons and words of wisdom--if you didn't join us live, you'll certainly want to check out this recording:

Cameraman Plan B:  https://youtu.be/aSEBWr63Kv0 - If you want to know what Only A Buck director Gerry Cook has been up to lately, and were enthralled by the clever contraptions depicted in his film from 35 years ago, then you'll really want to watch this amazing Rube Goldberg machine of a short film. All I can say is..."Wow!"
