Subject: New Video: Porcupine Tracking Update

Hey!

A few weeks back I shared a video showing how I’m tracking porcupines in a nearby hemlock forest. In that video we setup an experiment and I’m happy to report the results are in!

Check it out here.

In today’s update:

  • We’ll do a quick recap of the original porcupine tracking experiment and share what I’ve observed and learned so far.

  • I’ll show you how to assess the age of porcupine feeding sign on hemlock branches.

  • We’ll discuss how all this relates to the seasonal context and next steps for tracking porcupines using this method.

It’s a super quick 5m54s video, but you’ll really be able to see how simple tracking experiments in the woods can teach us amazing things about local wildlife.
