Subject: New Video: On The Trail Of White-Tailed Deer

Hey, it’s been awhile!

I just published a new video from my recent adventures trailing deer in a local forest.

Go check it out here.

One of the toughest yet most rewarding tracking skills is being able to follow animals even when you don’t have clear substrate like sand, snow or mud.

At times this can seem like an impossible task, but the key is to start with appropriate beginner challenges before gradually leading into more difficult conditions.

So today I’ll walk you through a complete progression of what deer tracks look like in the forest from beginner to advanced levels.

Here’s what we’ll cover:

  • Scouting techniques to help you quickly identify the highest traffic areas of deer movement in your landscape.

  • Tips for finding special pockets of substrate that do actually register clear tracks.

  • How to intuitively understand the general patterns of how deer move through your forest so you can better predict where they’re going.

  • The simple weekly tracking routine that helps me reliably find fresh deer trails every time I visit the forest.

  • How to hone your deer tracking instincts to help you get back on track when you lose the trail.

If you’ve ever wanted to track deer over long stretches of landscape, this video will provide a blueprint for how to go from absolute beginner to having real success in the field.
