Assalamualaikum Friend,
Through COVID19, Allah has shown us, in His Immense Glory, through a virus that cannot even be seen, can bring the entire globe to a stand still, Subhan Allah.
I was originally writing this email to thank you for your support in previous years by donating your Zakat & Sadaqah to National Zakat Foundation Australia. No doubt, I am still grateful firstly to Allah for giving us the opportunity to be in this position of responsibility and secondly to donors like yourself, through whom we are able to fulfil the responsibility that Allah has given us. For this, I pray that Allah bless you, your families & your wealth and keep you healthy. Ameen.
We now have a calamity, right here in Australia, where most of us, me included, had a false sense of security - that we live in a developed nation where calamities will not befall us.
As a past donor Friend, I know you care about our community and that I'm not alone. Thank you. |
| Some questions that I've been asking myself and I implore that you do too
- How are we going to react to this test from Allah?
- How are we going to prepare ourselves and our families to be strong and not be negatively affected by COVID19?
- Have we realised how close to home this test from Allah really is?
You will understand now, the relevance of the local Zakat & Sadaqah that you have paid to NZF previously. If not for people such as yourself, we will be held accountable on the Day of Judgement if we do not fulfil the rights of these eligible Muslims in our community.
Insha Allah, you will continue to support our local community this year too. At NZF, we are already assisting our brothers & sisters right here in Australia who are impacted either directly or indirectly due to COVID19. These are familes with members falling sick due to the virus and also those losing jobs and being thrown into financial difficulties such as casual workers including Quran teachers & Imams; people being stranded due to refugee or student visa restrictions with nowhere to go and many more. We have already seen a 50% increase in cases and expect this to spike up to 200%
Some other things that are on my mind, that I wanted to share are - Let us look after our families and loved ones.
- Let us look after those impacted by COVID19 right here in our community.
- Let us have the conversations with our elders to stay home and protect themselves.
- Let us have the even more difficult conversations for everyone to be prepared for death.
- Let us focus on that which might just make the difference between us going to Jahannam or Jannah.
If you know me, I am usually an optimistic person, and in this calamity I see opportunity; the opportunity for us to get even more closer to Allah.
So let us not wait for Ramadan to do good. Let us increase in our Ibaadah, our dua for forgiveness, our Salah, our Sadaqah and everything else good today, and not wait for Ramadan. If you pay your Zakat during Ramadan, I encourage you to bring it forward. The scholars have agreed that at times of necessity not only is it OK to pay your Zakat in advance, but it is even more rewarding to do so.
I look forward to your support this year as well Friend, through your Zakat & Sadaqah being paid locally to National Zakat Foundation, as I have no doubt you will.
