But the question is, how are we going to react to this test from Allah today.
Right here, in Australia, we have thousands of our brothers & sisters impacted either directly due to COVID19, indirectly due to job losses such as casual workers including Quran teachers & Imams; people being stranded due to refugee or student visa restrictions with nowhere to go and many more.
How are we going to prepare for our own families and selves to be affected by COVID19?
Have we realised how close to home this test from Allah really is? Now, more than ever, does the relevance of local Zakat need to be understood. We all will be accountable on the Day of Judgement if we do not fulfil the rights of these eligible Muslims in our community.
Friend Now more than ever, is the time for us to join hands and respond to this test from Allah.
Let us look after our families and loved ones.
Let us look after those impacted by COVID19.
Let us have the conversations with our elders to #StayHome and protect themselves.
Let us have the even more difficult conversations for everyone to be prepared for death.
Let us focus on that which might just make the difference between us going to Jahannam or Jannah.
If you know me, I am usually an optimistic person, and in this calamity I see opportunity; the opportunity for us to get even more closer to Allah.
So let us not wait for Ramadan to do good. Let us increase in our Ibaadah, our dua for forgiveness, our Salah, our Sadaqah and everything else good today, and not wait for Ramadan.
We have already seen an increase in cases by 50% and are estimating this spiking to 200% very rapidly. Hence, if you pay your Zakat during Ramadan, I encourage you to bring it forward. The scholars have agreed that at times of necessity not only is it OK to pay your Zakat in advance, but it is even more rewarding to do so.
So let's not sit around waiting for things to get worse. The question should be, what can we do about it, right now.
I look forward to your support this year as well Friend, through your Zakat & Sadaqah being paid locally to National Zakat Foundation, as I have no doubt you will. |
