Subject: Friend In relation to your Zakat payment

Assalamaualaikum Friend

Tonight will be the last odd night of this Ramadan for many of us subhan Allah, and it feels like Ramadan just started! By way of introduction, my name is Ameera and I work with the marketing team at NZF Alhamdulillah.

Friend Thank you for paying your Zakat to NZF this year.

I have a request or perhaps a recommendation for you to maximise your Zakat further.

As you might be aware, the entire amount of your Zakat is distributed to the eligible Zakat categories as per the Qur'an.

What this means is that we rely purely on Sadaqah to cover all our operational costs, office rent, salaries, etc. It is the Sadaqah that also helps us expand our programs, so our assistance can go beyond just Zakat.

Since you are someone who understands the need for local Zakat, would you consider signing up for daily Sadaqah during these last remaining blessed nights of Ramadan?

No matter how small, your Sadaqah will go a long way in helping us maximise the impact of your Zakat. This would also serve as an ongoing charity through the rewards of the work NZF does, for generations to come!

A bonus would be that you are guaranteed to catch Laylatul Qadr by automating your daily Sadaqah.

I hope that really makes it a simple decision. Click below tonight and commit to a daily donation for these last remaining nights, even if it's just $5 a day.

Zakat FAQ: Can we combine my spouse's wealth and mine to calculate Zakat?
Answer:

  • No. Zakat is an act of Ibadah (worship) and this act should be performed by an individual, requiring an individual's intention while calculating & making the intention to pay Zakat.

  • If the family owns a joint account, let’s say the husband is the breadwinner, then he should pay on those savings but not his wife, assuming he owns all the wealth in the joint account. Alternatively, if they have agreed to each owning a portion of the wealth, for example 50% each, then each person has to calculate & pay Zakat on 50% of the savings.

  • Each individual is only obliged to pay Zakat if they pass the Nisab as an individual.

  • One may pay Zakat on behalf of their spouse as long as the spouse has made their individual intention & calculated the Zakat they owe as an individual.

  • The accountability of paying Zakat is always with each individual.

Friend Thank you once again for trusting NZF with your Zakat. May Allah accept & bless your wealth. Ameen.
