Another blessed month has arrived as we begin the new year 1446 in our Islamic Calender. The month of Allah, al-Muharram, is a great and blessed month. It is the first month of the Hijri year and is one of the sacred months.
Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said that the best fasting after Ramadan is fasting in the month of al-Muharram. The day of Ashura Falls on the 10th of Muharram and is the day on which a number of significant events happened in Islamic History. One of them was the parting of the sea for Musa (AS) to save them from Pharoah.
The Prophet (saw) said, "Fasting the day of Ashura, I hope that Allah will accept it as an expiation for (the sins committed in) the previous year." (Muslim). In shaa Allah let's take this opportunity for redemption in the month of Muharram.
At National Zakat Foundation we are just coming off a busy month of Eid ul Adha celebrations and sacrifice, recruitment of new staff and successful fundraiser dinner event - Hearts For Palestine.
We would like to thank all our hardworking volunteers for the help and support in all these events.
Please continue to support us, as we rely on your volunteer and financial support to help local Muslims in need right here in New Zealand. We urge you to take the opportunity in this sacred month to pay Zakat and Sadaqah to us.
Let's help build a strong ummah in NZ. |
