Subject: Reflect, Give, and Grow this Rabi al-Thani 🌙

Assalamu Alaykum warahmatullahi wabarakatahu Friend

“And establish prayer and give Zakat, and whatever good you put forward for yourselves – you will find it with Allah.” (2:110, Qur’an)

SubhanAllah, the days are racing towards the end of another Gregorian year, and many families in the privileged world are already planning fun and holidays.

Speaking of fun, our team and community recently had the pleasure of attending the Noho Tahi event from the 20th to the 22nd of September. This weekend was spent celebrating Te Reo Language Week at Ngati Otara Marae. The gathering brought together Māori and non-Māori reverts from both Australia and New Zealand, creating a truly unique and enriching experience for many of us.

This event was a great reminder that, as Muslims, it's essential not only to continue educating others on the beauty of Islam but also to seek knowledge ourselves. Since Aotearoa is the land of the Tangata Whenua, it was wonderful to see our community embracing the culture, engaging in activities like traditional crafts, and enjoying the experience of a Hangi!

We were also blessed to facilitate Sheik Khalid Alef from Perth, Australia, at the Noho Tahi event and at several other events across New Zealand Masjids.

While life moves forward for many of us, the heartbreaking reality for our Palestinian brothers and sisters is that October 7th, 2024, marks a full year of relentless devastation to their homes and lives. Right here in New Zealand, we are receiving numerous applications for assistance from Palestinian families who have arrived but are not eligible for government support due to their visa status.

We urge you to consider giving your zakat and sadaqa through us so that we can provide much-needed help to them and many other Muslims struggling within our local communities in New Zealand. Together, we can change lives.

We are thrilled to announce an upcoming event featuring Shaun King and Mansour Shouman, with NZF as the charitable partner for Hearts for Palestine. Join us on Thursday, 31st October (Further details TBC) for an inspiring, thought-provoking evening. Tickets are selling quickly, so be sure to secure yours before they’re gone! We can't wait to see you there!

JazakhAllah Khair,

Your NZF Team
