Subject: Can I Cut My Hair and Nails If I Give Qurban🤔

Assalamu Alaykum Friend,

As we eagerly anticipate the arrival of the blessed first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah, which are expected to begin on Monday Insha'Allah (subject to moon sighting), we understand that many individuals may have questions concerning the permissibility of cutting hair and nails while intending to offer a Qurban.

Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated a hadith in which the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) advised, "When you see the new moon of Dhul Hijjah – according to another version, When the ten days (of Dhul Hijjah) begin – and any one of you wants to offer a sacrifice, let him refrain (from cutting) his hair and nails" (Narrated by Ahmad and Muslim).

According to various versions of this hadith, it is recommended not to cut hair or nails once the intention to offer a sacrifice has been made during the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah. Some narrations specify refraining from removing anything from the hair and nails until after the sacrifice has been performed.

Therefore, if you have already formed the intention to offer a sacrifice during the initial ten days of Dhul Hijjah, it is advised to refrain from cutting your hair and nails until after the completion of the Qurban. However, it's essential to note that any actions taken before forming the intention do not incur any sin.

We hope this explanation provides the clarity you were seeking regarding the permissibility of hair and nail cutting during Qurban.

May Allah bless you with an abundance of rewards and acceptance for your Qurban offering.
